i've been asking about this, but i think people have been looking at the subject as a mediocre question.

the problem is, when i hide the menu in a flash projector, it leaves a gap at the top and the bottom of the main movie. which is the totaled height of the menu that was there.

what's the problem with this? the problem is, i didn't have this problem until flash 5, but through trying and trying again, i would eventually get it to work w/out leaving the gaps. but now, no matter how hard i try, it always leaves the gap. i am wanting to create media that bleeds to the edges of the projector, but now there's some gaps.

is there anyone else that's experiencing this?
    someone with windows download this:
    http://tweekmonster.net/flash6/menu/menu.zip

press the button to show/hide the menu bar, if you dont see the border lines and text that says "you shouldn't see this", i'm going to go nuts!

Try placing a box on the stage and make it a bit smaller than the stage. Use it as a background layer. Then copy the box and make a layer mask out of it. Make the mask the topmost layer. Mask everything to that layer. I hope this helps.

it doesnt matter for a mac, a mac forever has the menu bar across the top of the screen, on windows, it's within the window.

say that the movie is 550x400, the menu bar is 19px tall the actuall dimensions would be 550x419 for the inner-window. if i hide the menu, the dimensions is still 550x419, while the actual movie is only 550x400, leaving a 8px gap at the top and the bottom.

if macs was my only target platform, i would worry about it.
    thanks for the help tho.

The menu does get hidden on a mac. I also run my own projectors and don't get any gaps. Are you using FS Commands? Did you see my post entitled "Does Flash MX do CD's". I hope this helps. If you would like to post your SWF file, I'll have a look at it.

    Have a look at :
    http://www.logicplus.com.hk/DL/SWFSample.zip

it is create to demostrate positioning function of LPFlashEx, including :
    1. Show the Screen Cursor Position
    2. Show your windows position and size
    3. Show your stage position and size on screen
    4. Calculate and show if the Cursor in over your flash window / Stage
    5. Set the Screen Cursor Position
    6. Set your flash Window Location and Size
    7. Trap and Release the cursor to specific boundary
    8. Drag the flash window
    9. Save the setting to a text file
    10. Display message box to show save result
    11. Set Title Bar text
    12. Shake the flash window
    13. Blink the flash window
    14. Use LPFlashEx with swf file (no need to make projector)

It also used LP.exec("killMenu"); to kill the menu without leaving Gap.

Just run the SWFSample.exe to test.

LPFlashEx Standard is free for self use and only cost US$10 to register to distribute with your projectors.

More info and more functions of LPFlashEx can be find in our website.
