Basic help with Action scripts (onMouseEvent)

How come I cannot seem to use an onMouseEvent on a symbol
made from text? I don't know what I am doing wrong.

I have some text that fades in to the scene. I want to be
able to click it, but when I click actions on the KeyFrame
I want it on(It is the last frame in the movie) the onMouseEvent is blurred out. I have tried it as a button symbol, and a graphic symbol. I'm sure theres an easy
explination however I don't know it.

Select the button, THEN select actions.
As the action you want is for the button not the keyframe.
