I'll remind you all again -
    300 pixels wide
    40 pixels high
    15kb maximum file size
    No Sound

here are a few that don't quite make it into the limits -

    http://www.ly4.netfirms.com/newfooter.swf - 18kb

    http://www.sirokai.com/feet.swf - 22kb

    http://www21.brinkster.com/xup878/footer7.swf - 19kb

    http://www.zh-webdesign.ch/icomedia/carfooter4.swf - 18kb

can the owners please fix them as soon as possible please.

    thanx,
    david p.

theres a lot more then that

thats like asking how do you make a website

you can either create a flash animation within the limits, or use an image [gif or jpg] also must be within set limits

Just for information. My footer is now <15k. Selected all the characters that I use by hand. A lot of work.

maybe we could start a thread in the competition forum at the beginning of every month and people can post their footers there, the winner to be decided i the last week of the month.

This isn't quite the same, but the Banner Art Collective (http://bannerart.org/) collects art and flashwork done within the limits of web ads--468x60, under 15K (as well as other sizes).

If you're looking for low-bandwidth fun, you might consider submitting.

    ???????

if you comply with the file size, then why is there an image size limit too?

and can you make your footer so people can CHOOSE to load another swf even if it makes the size bigger?

why ask? how hard is it to accept the limitations as they currently exist? Put in a link to any swf movies you want to show.
The owners of the site have some responsibility (and prefences) in terms of what is served via their site. I don't want to have to go around clicking on every damn footer to see if there is a porn flick loading on rollover/press/release, or an animated ad for a hack/crack site.

We worked hard to get them down to the size they are now and I don't really feel that backwards going is the thing to do. I would rather reduce the data size even more, say 6kb in total.

I think it's a sweet and dandy perfectly sized advertising implement to have at the bottom of each post to present yourself as flash designers in the 3rd Rock form the sun of quickly moving technological advances.
