i'm thinking .. mostly all flash

flash can be a very powerful program for doing graphics (not photoshop style graphics though), if you know what you want to do, and if it makes sense to do in vector

If you are mostly interested in buttons and signs, then FLASH is the tool for you. What are most buttons and signs composed of? Clean symbols, text characters and icons that can be easily identified and recognized.

Even if you want some subtle shading, FLASH has gradient tools or you can just paint with the brush tool.

The alpha, brightness and tint options make it easy to turn one button into endless combinations of colors without having to redraw it or make new objects.

Learn by example. Most of the 'buttons' on this site are actually just text links. Emoticons are made with a small palette of colors. Look at the colors in the banner ads. What are your real requirements?

If vector colors are insufficient, you can always import bitmap graphics. What program allows you to do the opposite?

    Flash, Photoshop and 3DS Max.

But your only doing buttons. Keep 'em clean and simple. Flash on it's own is more than sufficient. Works for me.

    do not ever use frontpage

Everything that has something to do with frontpage, doesn't work right...

I often use fireworks and Photoshop and of course Flash.
It depends on the situation your in:\
1: vector images: use flash or fireworks or even Illustrator.
2: pictures and graphix: use photoshop or fireworks, Photoshop is the ultimate editing program for pictures and graphix..

    good luck
