Is h.264 really a trojan horse tactic?
This is why I said that this a DoJ/governmental issue. It's not only anti-trust, monopolistic and whatever other economical buzzword you want to use, but it's also something very dangerous for our society as a whole.
Starting to look like it...

That is just scary.
Any ideas why popular tech sites do not cover this?

They'll just enforce monsanto genetic rules on you. If it was produced by a company that did manufactuer other products with h.264 then you still have to pay. And the only retaliation you'll have is to try and sue the manufactuerer.

Yeah I don't want to rap my work in some weird codec. I would rather choose when and where I render my video.

...seems there are very few video cameras that can shoot video in RAW.
Example-
Red Digital Cinema Camera Company
The company's main product is the Red One, which can record at resolutions up to 4096 horizontal by 2304 vertical pixels, directly to flash or hard disk storage. It features a single Super 35-sized CMOS sensor and a cinematography industry standard PL mount.
The basic body costs around $17,500. This does not include lenses, batteries/chargers or any other accessories.
No longer a Flashkit mod, not even by stealth

RED cameras are beyond drool worthy. I want to see what their DSLR body configurations can do.
