Isn’t this a WWF event?
Yes it is but on Monday 6th May this year, WWF changed its global brand name to WWE, World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc., in a move to further emphasis it’s global expansion across the whole spectrum of entertainment.
Which WWE Superstars will perform?
The performance card is subject to change. WWE tours the world 52 weeks every year and the Superstars of WWE are subject to injury and ailment like all other professional athletes and entertainers. You will see the Superstars you have seen on TV and they will include; The Rock, Triple H, Hollywood Hulk Hogan, Kurt Angle and WWE Divas… Stacey Keibler and Torrie Wilson.
Is that ‘The Rock’ as in the new movie “The Scorpion King”?
Yes it is and did you know that the executive producer of the movie is Vince McMahon, the Chairman of World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc.
Will I see Stone Cold Steve Austin?
Steve is part of the Raw talent roster and at this time it is not planned for him to participate in Global Warning Tour Melbourne.
Will Mr & Mrs McMahon be coming to Melbourne?
Yes, they both plan to be here.
What are the dates for other WWE shows in Australia?
The World Wrestling Entertainment Global Warning Tour Melbourne special event is the only WWE live show scheduled for Australia this year.
Will there be additional shows in Melbourne?
No, there will only be the one special major event on Saturday August 10, 2002.
What is the difference between Global Warning Tour Melbourne and WWE (WWF) SmackDown!?
Whilst both WWE events share some of the same Superstar talent, Global Warning Tour Melbourne will be a special event featuring a unique card of WWE Superstars primarily drawn from the SmackDown! talent roster.
Isn’t this WWF Raw?
No, WWF is now WWE and RAW is one of the WWE stable of Televised events.
So this is not WWA-World Wrestling Association?
No this is the original real thing not an imitation.
Then is this WCW?
No, World Championship Wrestling was recently purchased by WWE and is now fully integrated within the WWE organisation.
Will I hear the commentators as on TV?
WWE are looking into this for the Melbourne event. So far it seems it will be hard to make them audible above the intense action, music and pyrotechnics of the show and the involvement of the audience. On other WWE events worldwide the commentators are not audible live.
What time will the show begin?
The show will begin at 7:30pm local time. The venue doors will open around two hours prior.
How long will the show last?
Approximately three hours.
Will there be an interval?
No.
Will there be a warm up attraction?
No, the event will warm itself up.
How big is the ring?
Approximately twenty feet square and surrounded by a barricaded safety mat area of approximately eight feet wide and the commentator area.
Will they have the entrance stage and ramp that we see on TV?
Yes, a unique and enormous entrance stage set is currently being designed for this event. There will be a second huge structure above the ring area that will support more of the sound and lighting equipment used for the show.
Will there be video screens?
Yes, there will be special event video screens and the Colonial Stadium Panasonic house video screens will be used.
Will the Colonial Stadium roof be opened for the show?
No, WWE want everyone to stay warm and dry during this evening event.
Will the event be broadcast live as a ‘Pay Per View’ Cable Television Show?
There are no plans to do this at the current time.
Will the event be filmed? Will I be filmed?
Yes, the event will be filmed for future use. In buying a ticket you grant WWE consent to film you and use your likeness as a participant in the event as presented live and as recorded for all mediums in perpetuity whether that use is intentional or not.
Can I bring my own WWE hero banners and signs to this event?
Yes, soft (paper, card or fabric) banners will be allowed provided they are not overly large, cumbersome and so considered a danger to others. Banners and signs mounted on solid frames or poles or posts will not be allowed.
Will there be any Australian wrestlers involved?
No.
Will official WWE merchandise be on sale at the show?
Yes, a full and wide range of official WWE product will be available at the event, be wary of any imitations that may be seen beyond the Stadium precinct.
