basic pop up window ?

I have'nt done any javascript before and only a bit of html but basically what i want to do is generate a small pop up window containing some text info when the user clicks the button ??

so i have a small "more info' button then when cllicked a pop up window with a fixed size pops up and give a little more info.... simple enough but obviously not for me .. could someone possilby post the code and instructions for this in newbie terms..
