    moving

im finally moving out of this place to the North West. Hopefully, I'll make it out before the riots start here.

Its turning out to be a logistical nightmare. Any suggestions for things to consider that I might have missed?

Yeah that is the most vague post ever.

    Where you from?
    What riots?
    What state you looking into?
    Line of work?

Not to many riots here...I'll send you directions if you want. Go to Canada and take the road the only road. You will see the sign. on the right.

I've been looking at jobs in Canada for the last 3 years... I'll move there.

    Or to Minnesota. It's Canada-ish.

Does that make Canadians honorary Minnesotans? That would kick ass.

Helpful post #1 in this thread...
    • buy boxes beforehand. uhaul.com has good prices on pre-bundled packages of boxes for sale.
    • hire movers to move said boxes - costs money, but the $ saved in chiropractic bills and lost friends will more than make up for it
    • take a scouting trip to the area you are moving to - getting to know the lay of the land before you get there can help with eventual problems later on
    • save $...now. you'll need it.
    • drop back 10 and punt
    • dont take any wooden nickels
    • use this time to get rid of any items you dont need to move. old clothes, kitchen junk, etc.
    • get the moving package from the post office. you can fill out the forms now for a move up to 6 months in advance I think and have them forward your mail for quite some time after that too
    • pay all your bills before you get on the road. nothing like missing out on a few credit card payments to make your new humble house into a house of pain
    • when you get to your new 'hood, take a quick drive around to all the take out joints. Get every menu you can - this will be your main source of sustinance for the first several weeks.
