    I would like to make little alpha lines appear slowly behind a picture like the pictures appeared on
    http://www.spiderman.sonypictures.com/ intro. Where can I good tutorial for newbies to acheive such effect in Flash?

    Had a look at the spiderman site... nice.

    The alpha lines you mean actually appear over the top of the picture.

    You can do it two ways:

    1) assign the background image to your html file and place your swf file over the top...

    2) import the graphic into the fla file.

    Either way you need to make either a new layer over the top that contains a number of vertical lines faded out (these are individual MC's and move about horizontally). They are also alpha'd down (try 20%).

    If you need to know how to do it look no further than the getting started tutorials in Flash to tell you how to move objects.
