I need to make a webpage with an opening screen like the one at http://www.atelier-image-in.com/ . I have tried several ways (masking is one of them), but i can't achieve the effect. What do you guys think would be the best way to do it? Thanks in advance.

Do you mean the way the areas become brighter when your mouse goes over them?
It looks like it's done with buttons, just having the area play a small mc in the over section of the button

No, what i mean is how did they make the main screen open and close like that. For example, when you click on Portfolio, and on one of the sub-items, the screen closes, and opens again with another background. What i want to do is replicate that effect (opening and closing). I've tried doing it with masking, but it doesnt work well. Thanks for your reply.
