I try and cut and paste from Illustrator 10 into Flash MX and the result is horrible. Instead of nice, smooth vectors, it's all jaggedy and has extra nodes.

I've updated Illustrator 10, tried using the smooth tool in MX (that just messes up my art) and I've even tried importing the illustrator file... no dice.

Has anyone else had this problem? Know what to do?

FREEHAND? You blasphemer! Illustrator is my baby! I actually haven't used Freehand in a good five years now. Yikes.

I'll try the SWF thing... I've tried EPS and that didn't work.

Cheapass?! My God, sir! Should I convert and become a born-again Freehand user? I haven't used it in so long I barely remember the program. I'm just so used to Illustrator, I can use it in my sleep...

I exported the .ai file to .swf and imported it into flash. Fantastic work fellas!

thats enough how dare you. i'll vectorize all over freehand and then some.

if you're exporting (eps) for flash it has to be saved as ai version 8 or earlier. or as i said just save it as a swf.

or you could use the second hand, low class, not as good as illustrator, freehand

viva la macromedia! ummm... adobe or whatever... i use it all!

Yeah I had the same problem importing Illustrator 8 files into MX.

With Flash 5, I could easily copy and paste from Illustrator into Flash and it worked great. For some reason MX jacks up the vectors.

The thing I came up with is to paste the vector into Flash 5, then copy from 5 and paste into MX. Then the graphic looks right. A few more steps than I like though.

Seems to me that MM wouldn't want to cut a working feature out of their new version.

anyone who uses illustrator should be able to use freehand easily enough - I use freehand for web apps and illustrator for print based work....

Both r equally competant programs, but using macromedia apps together is bound to give more options.

    Hi.
You may want to check out our software, Flix Pro, which, among other things, converts most video and image files into vectorized swfs. It has many controls for adapting the image to your specifications and a handy preview function.
There are free demos for both Windows and Mac.

Sorry, but you're really starting to get on my nerves with this Flix stuff. Could you go a day without plugging to the MX board? That's all I’m going to say. No response is necessary. This is the last time you’ll hear me say anything about your Flix posts. I have nothing against Flix or you for that matter. Have a nice day and a pleasant tomorrow.

    7 maybe...

wow! what a pain to import ai into flash. i'm used to saving as swf so it's no big deal for me. i've never used freehand, i just bought studio mx so maybe it's time to learn (for the fun of it). i will never stop using illustrator for my work though.
