Paypal, Someone explain briefly please.

I'm thinking about using paypal to handle all my accounts.

I'm a freelance flasher.

Could you give me an overview of what it's all about, how it works, and what drawbacks it has.

Basically, is it worth it, and would you recommend it?

As far as I know, you can use it to buy and sell items over the internet without having to give the company or person or whatever your actual cash or credit card number. Kind of a safe gaurd against fraud.

I'm pretty sure paypal takes a percentage or a certain fee off of the payment from you =\
