screen effect

does any one know how to create a tv screen effect?

for instance: if want a round shaped movie (a twirl or something) to play in a square, without the edges of the circle to show outside of that square; how do i do this?

make a square for the are that you would like to be visible, on a layer that is on top of the layer containing the tvShowMc (or whatever...twirlMc?). Right-click the square layer and select MASK.

does this also work on putting movieclips on top of a bitmap or jpg? (masking the layer)
