For some reason, I can't remember how to get a quicktime animation converted into a series of traced outline frames. The trace bitmap option is greyed out when I select my .qt movie.
Also, assuming I don't trace the movie frames, I can see this quicktime movie when I hit return in my movie clip I've created, but when I export to .swf, the place where the movie should've been is blank. ???
I know this isn't hard, I've just been out of the Flash loop for a few months and now I'm rusty. Forgive me if I should be demoted back to the Newbie page. I'll be happy to post there if I can find the answer. ...maybe I'll go ahead and post there as well...
Thanks.

GAME ON!!!!
If are using Flash 5, you can't play back mov files within the Flash player. Only in MX.

I find the best metod id to export the move as a series of bitmaps. Batch them in Photoshop and vectorize them. I use streamline.
Or here's nother method:

QT
You can present your QT movie along with your flash content without converting any thing.
You have one main rule to follow.
QT 5 only supports up to flash 4 actionscript.
What you have to do is set your publish setting for flash to flash version 4 before you import your movie into flash.
flash 5 and MX will then display the actions that you can't use in yellow.
import QT movie to a new layer and match fps of flash movie to fps of QT movie.
Make your flash movie using your QT movie as a placeholder -- note start frame number
delete QT movie layer.
publish swf flash 4
drag and drop swf into QT player test w/o movie.
open QT movie.
select all
copy
open swf/QT movie
move scrubber to movie staert frame noted in flash.
paste
save (not save as) self contained change extention to .mov.
test.
There is a link to the flash 4 dictionary on the projects page. of
