Why is it when I upload a new swf to replace an older one, it takes hours to see it? Anyone else have this problem?

in your browser or ftp program?
ftp: i don't know
browser:
are you clearing out your cache? Your browser will look to your hardrive for the file before it downloads it. You browser will then check its expiration.
You can set up your server to expire files faster.

But, can you setup the server so it expires files faster?
I dont think that would be possible on a shared host, is it?

I've never heard of being able to adjust the exipire times of files....I run Apache though..
what type of web server are you running on. IIS might have something like this....
I suggest getting a good FTP program or using the Filemanager in Dreamweaver.

when you say hours you really mean hours right. so if you dump your cache and temp files what do you get?
as far as the server, you would need it to be your own. You would also, most likely, need to know apache.

I'll dump the cache and it still wont update.

wait you dump the cache, delete all temp files, then go to the site and it shows the old movie. must be a proxy problem then.

meaning my ISP? Can this be fixed? Now that I think about it, its not only with this host, but with others to.

well you can host it on a different isp and check. if its still showing old stuff then you can use a different access provider (get a friend). to check.

if you're looking for something that might be being cached add a query statement after the url, just a '?' and a random number, eg; yourdomain.com/your.swf?443
then the server will think you're passing data to the file(which you are) and it should look for the latest version of the file.
