I get the feeling I may be doing it the wrong way. What I'm doing is creating symbols and adjusting their alpha. This doesn't give me very good control over the color since it is an overlay on top of the original color.

Can someone please tell me the right way?

    Thanks

If you use actionscript, you could have more control over the color of movieclips, using, as said before, setTransform and also getRGB:

Great start, thanks. If someone knows of a tutorial or could post a small fla of just a box slowly changing colors using this method I would greatly appreciate it.
