Living Proof
HI,
Browsing through the forums here at FK, I have
noticed an increase in comments to people asking
for advice, to:-
"work it out for yourself."
"search for it on the NET."
These terse words of "advice???" are not very helpful
to people new to flash/ web design.
Some people are young, so they are not at work where
they can surf..
They probally are not on Broadband, and cannot spend
a lot of time on their parents phonelines.
A little kick in the right direction, just a little
hint and perhaps then they can have a go at working
it out.
I am not refering to people who ask:-
"how do I build a really cool web in 20 minutes?? "
...but the odd little points that take hours to
fathom out. and a few momments to explain.
Help somebody out each day. The rewards are great.
I helped a guy out, that wanted to display photos
of his new baby..
He was putting his web site.com rather than the
actual .HTML
Took a few minutes to explain.
Reply back was
"Thanks WOWWWEEE. now I can show off my new kid."
Need I say any more

People who reply with "work it out for yourself" and "search for it on the net" are just spamming the boards with crap replies, usually to bump up their post count. If you don't know the answer don't reply, this way the boards stay cleaner. Simple.

Work it out for yourself.

worst thing is when you don't get any replies at all and you know someone out there would know.
if i have time on my hands I tend to do a search myself then post the link, some newbies are not sure what to search for i.e newbie ask how to make object move from point A to point B, but didn't know that searching for 'tweening' would be the same thing. (if get what I mean)

if i see stupid crappy replies to people i often just delete them, they're a waste of space and give a bad impression of what flashkit is about.
lots of people here, mostly longtimers seem to actually take some weird pleasure in being rude to new members.
so if you find some of your one word replies mysteriously disappearing blame the elves.
if you want to acually discuss something here rather than posting nonsense, maybe we could talk about how to improve the community by responding better to situations described above.
