After creating a control interface the output .swf file size is 4.8kb. After I drop in a 1.14MB QT video file imported at 100% quality and size with uncompressed audio the exported .swf growa to and unbelieveable 8.6MB.

I can't figure out where the extra 7MB is coming from. As you can imagine this file size is no good as it is destined for the web.

If anyone can help I'd be stoked.

    indeed,

flash's native sorenson codec blows a$$.

"conveniently enough, http://www.sorenson.com offers a product called squeeze which uses the "spark" codec which is far superior for file size.

    It's worth the $$$

MX uses the Sorenson Spark codec, so what is the difference between the two

it actually doesn't, it uses a version of the sorenson codec,

which is not the "spark" codec.

The difference is the algorithm used to encode and decode the data to display the video.

    Sorenson squeeze is far superior.

interesting that they developed the codec for the authoring envirnment and it stinks, and not a week after mx is released they come out with this expensive little app.

    too convenient.
