    Anyone know how to have a window popup directly from flash?
    This window NEEDS to have a 300x400 pixel dimension So it can contain a Quicktime movie.

    I appreciate your replies!

    i have

    i have searched all the tutorials i can find, and they all sayit is possible using getUrl().

    on (release) {
    getURL("javascript:NewWindow=window.open('http://www.google.com','newWin')");
    }

    So i tried to use this code and i didnt work the way i want it to. It opens up a window first, that has the javascript as the address, then opens up my page.

    I need the correct size window to open directly out of flash.
    is this possible?

    your code needs one addition. see the void(0) addition below:

    Code:
    on(release){
    getURL("javascript:window.open('http://www.google.com','newWin','width=400,height=300');void(0);");
    }
    plus I just generally fixed other errors. Hope that helps

    Hi, I came on here earlier trying to find the same answer. I found a solution that worked for me. I have a flash page opening a new browser window which is HTML and supports Quicktime.

    Step1:
    In the flash file:
    The button you want to tell to make a pop-up window, use this code:

    on (release) {
    getURL("javascriptpenNewWindow('http://www.yoursite.com','thewin','height=250,width=650,t oolbar=0,location=0,directory=0,status=0,menubar=0 ,scrollbars=0,resizable=0') ");
    }

    I didn't want anything on the window, just the movie, so that is where all the 0's come in.

    Step2:
    Go into the HTML file your Flash is linked to.

    add this script in the head:

    Step3:
    Still in the HTML file, find where it says:
    <!-- URL's used in the movie-->
    Then find your link that you want to make the pop-up window. Make sure it is the exact same as your code in the Flash file.

    Hopefully this works!

    Bscott...
    Don't test this in the application itself, where it will allways open a browser window first! Test it online!

    does anyone know how to do a popup from within a frame. My domain name is transfered to another ip address, however the domain name stays in the url bar. this is done using frames. however, if i click on a flash button that does popup the page just goes to "page can not be found" and there is no popup. however if i go directly to the ip address, the popup works just fine.
