How to work hitTest properly!?!??!!

WaRGH! having a little trouble with hitTest, I'm trying to work out how to ... well hard to explain i can use hitTest. if anyone can reply with an e-mail i'll send you the *.fla and explain it in more detail cause that just makes this 100x easier..

I think I've had some runins with Hit Tests before.
