    Hi,
I have a distorted circle that looks like the image below.

What I want to do in my flash animation is have that circle appear to be turning clockwise in place. The lines should be the only thing moving, not the gray circle itself. Is there any fairly easy way to do this? I'm still pretty new to flash.
    Thanks!

    Hey -
    try this:

Make the gray circle, but don't distort it yet..

Now animate the lines going around, maybe 2 circles, one just a completely filled gray circle, and the black would be on top of it, with the lines. Convert the black circle to a movieclip and animate it rotating above the other circle. Now select both and make it another mc.

now you should be able to distort that mc how you want it.

    Psx

I got the circle movie clip working, but I can't figure out how to distort a movie clip. The distort tool is grayed out when I select the move clip in my scene. How can I distort it?

Cosmic - go ahead! Create your own species!

Coomer - that's really strange. not sure what would cause that, but it looks like cosmic has you all set.

Cosmic, you're not emailing the .fla to me are you? I'm at home right now and the email addresss on here is my work email address. If you want to email it to me you can send it to ccoomer@studio412.com if you don't want to post it on here.

    Thanks!

    Hi cosmiceye,

That is marvelous. I did not know that a 3d effect can be mimic so simple.

    I have a suggestion.

Instead of attaching these lines to _root, we may try attaching them to a dummy movieClip which stretchs the y scale to 200 and rotate 45 degree. The sizes of arc between lines would appear even better.

How would I do that? I've been having trouble trying to get those lines to look a bit better. I'm gradually learning though.

Sigh......I wish I knew more about Flash. I can't even begin to understand what's going on in any of the movies I download. Thanks for the clip though! I'll try to work through it and figure it out.
