Does anyone know how to unprotect a Macintosh Flash movie?
-
Why do you want to do anything like that? If you would try you will find out that because of the file size compression there will be no more viewable code or layers. I wouldn't advise you to do this. You do have your own creativity, dont you ? Well just observe and you will find out how things are done. Otherwise check out the fla's on this page. There are lots of them and they are very usefull to learn from. Good luck

I would like to know because I have a programming background, and find things like that interesting. I like to understand what's happening "behind the scenes," if you will. Rest assured, my creativity is intact with or without the knowledge. There's no need to get snooty, and no hard feelings. Now on with things...
What do you mean by "because of the file size compression there will be no more viewable code or layers"?
Thanks.

I believe Shaman was thinking that you wanted to unprotect a movie to use the bits of it for yourself. But a protected movie is just that... protected. It would be ridiculous for the term "protected" to be used if anyone could get into it.
If you want to find out how they tick, how about exporting a non-protected SWF file and hacking into that? Or is it the actual protection you are interested in?

Forget what the other members are saying, they are incorect. If you want to unprotect a movie use shifty unprotector. GO ahead, unprotect everything. People who are so uptight about their code forget that a) there is no "code" that a user can extract in a swf file and b) any animations / illustrations are covered under your countries copyright law. Go unprotect, but remember you cant really copy because they can sue you!
Goto http://buraks.com/swifty/swfup.html to get Swifty Unprotector.

Hey, if you need to have a file unprotected on a MACINTOSH (i didnt see that part until after i sent my first responce) your best bet is to run SoftPC! =) Sorry, I cant find a mac version.... However you can modify the sfw file itself... Here is a link to c++ code for a swf parser: http://www.openswf.org/swfparse.cpp
