hi, i would have the menu "expanded" at all times. its easier for the user.
maybe have an alpha-faded background for the buttons to fit in with the background of the rest of the site.
i would also have the flash area in the middle of the site. i think it looks more professional.
and i would have the background of the HTML as white, or a light grey to fit in with the main flash bit.
very quick loading with small files to load in between (how i hate sites that say "broadband only")
