    Just to warn you I am VERY new to actionscript. I usually limit myself to animating in Flash, but i decided to start learning actionscript. Anyway, I debug a script and it tells me it expected a field name after a piece of the script. What is a field name?

    What were you trying to do?

    If you had a dynamic text box, you need to give it a name so that actionscript can talk to it. That would be a field name.

    In Flash 5 you assign this in the Text Options panel.

    In MX, when you select the text box the Properties window contains a place to enter this.
