    on (release) {
    _root.home_mc.help_mc.gotoAndStop(1);
    }

    I have a button name Help out side of the movie clip but it just wont load that like...

    and I don't want to move the button and put it inside the movie clip.

    any suggestions?

    Give me your structure:

    Example:

    help button is inside of this mc and that mc is inside another clip

    There is nothing wrong with your syntax there chances are you just havent named one of your instances. If you want to be sure you have the right path to the help_mc the Actionscript panel has a 'target' button that opens a window and allows you to find all named instances relative to any object (such as your button) in your movie.

    That script from a button (be it outside or in any of the movie clips!) will send your help_mc, which is inside another mc home_mc, to go and stop on frame 1.
    Obviously, if you don't have a help_mc inside a home_mc set on the main timeline, it won't work!
