Color Mixer... a shape isn't a movieclip/button/graphic. its the thing you use for a shape tween yelling is not neccicary

OK smartass, why don't you check into library. You can see that animation parts have been transformed into graphic simbols and named tween-somenumber.

    gSOLO_01.

Remember prashantm who started the thread? S/he used the term "object", and given the way that the starter thread was worded, I used it too, because the vocabulary of a newbie post might be ambiguous and I assumed
prashantm would be having problems with shapes rather than symbols. But hey, assuming makes an ass of u and me.

Double click on a shape, press F8 and that will turn it into a symbol. Otherwise it`s just a shape.

    Cheers

Whatever, this is a waste of time anyway. But I think that you cannot talk about alpha when you think of shapes

And also, if you're talking about an object it has to be a simbol, that is the basic thing in Flash OOP. Especialy in MX.

Given your view on things then, how do animate a button e.g. make it tween to a certain alpha or colour onPress or mouseOver? No shape manipulation there?

I knew I wasn`t just "assuming". Just a simple authoring request that, by answering, has bolstered my posts by 20%. Silly.

There's not just shape tweening. Have you heard of motion tweening? It enables the change of alpha, colour, position of an object , size, rotation.

Aarrgh. Of course I have. It`s you that`s saying stuff like "how can you set alpha if it`s not a symbol" and "that you cannot talk about alpha when you think of shapes". I`m saying that you can.

hey thanx guys although i didn't expect such contradictions between the membes itself but i learnt it the hard way. I now know how to give transparency(and mind u not alpha) color to another shape using the method of dear old friend
    Surgpig.
    Special Thanks to :
raven69 - who kept the debate going till we came to a perfect conlusion

Surgpig - who b his brightideas helped me solve my problem

gSOLO_01 - who acted as peacemaker between the two (who was the real smartass in controlling the temperament)
