Basically I've thought up a multimillion dollar website idea. Which I guarantee will be used by millions of people worldwide.

Only problem is I have nowhere to get startup capitol and I would need at least $200,000-$500,000 USD to get the site up and running.

Anyone know where to start looking for that kind of startup capitol?? This idea won't remain unique for long because someone will surely create it before very long (trust me there is a large demand). So how/where can I get the money to be the first.

Well I don't know much about obtaining that kind of money, but you might want to draft a professional business plan. Then have a lawyer set up a business licence. Start putting together a package to show to potential investors. You need to show how this is going to make money. Seek out the bored and rich.

the boardroom might be able to help.

or you could build a time machine and go back to 98/99 when you could get that money no problem by just saying "spatula.com"

first thing to do is make a realistic business plan and presentation, without that no one will bother.

venture capital investment in technology is pretty rare these days unless you have a proven business, which means you would have needed to started and gained income first.

government is probably your best bet, grants can be a pain, they often have big conditions tied to them. In canada there's the 'business development bank of canada' who are good at investing in startups, but a lot of their time is spent giving out money to people with 'connections' to the government.

unless you can find a patron you're going to have to prove that your business works by making it work.

Not a product based more of a service based.
What I can tell you without giving to much away is. Everywhere (worldwide) has them offline, the offline forms of the service make billions each year and hundreds of thousands of offline companies use them.
However there are now many online companies (thousands) which cannot use these offline services. Thus I would like to set up the service for them to use online.

I am positive this will work and work well and I'm suprised it hasn't been done before now (I would think someone would have thought of this back in 1997-98)

I even believe the online market for this service would be bigger than the offline one.

I am taking a business course starting friday and hopefully it will help me in developing my business plan. I even think I know of a potential investor (I know a guy who forked out 5 million Canadian to setup a huge restaurant in Montreal).

vamps I'll put it this way (an analogy which maybe you can relate to )..

IMO my idea is on about the same ground as the first person who said "I wonder what would happen if I uploaded porn to the internet and let other people download it"

Millions/Billions were made on porn before it went online, now online porn brings in way more $$$ then offline porn ever did.

My idea (NOT AT ALL PORN RELATED) make billions offline and could easily be implemented online, however the idea hasn't been done yet and like the example above should be just as successful if not more successful online than offline.

On-line Gasoline Pumps?!?!?! WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT?

Seriuosly though, is there any way to make a scaled down version of the site with less capital? Because, again, I would think it hard to find someone willing to fork over $500,000 on "A GREAT IDEA", impossible without a viable outline that they can understand and agree with. Might make it easier to find that kind of cash if you could say "Look, I put $100/$1,000/etc. into a small test site and this is my ROI ______", don't you think?

    Nice one, vampstko

BTW, if anyone cares, I just need capital, start-up or otherwise. What I need it for is my business, not yours. You think that just because you write the checks, you need to know what I'm doing?

    Don't think so.

Now we've defined our working relationship, please make that out to...
