    i am making a contact us page for my companies web site.
    here is the code i am using.
    when i test the movie the name, will not work

    Yeah, I'm here I will take a look at it as soon as possible, have 2 other flas to debug and I'm gonna be gone all day tommorow, have to pick my parents up at Amsterdam airport Schiphol, and I live in belgium so its a 2 and a half hour drive one way, so...

    I will get to it as soon as I can.

    Well, its allready 10 pm here so I only gonna be up for like 2 more hours, but as I said, as soon as possible, if you haven't solved it yourself, I'll rush into it, first thing.

    just wondering if you have had any progress?
    i have tried setting _global settings and nothing seems to work. it dosent seem to be seeing the name field. or there is something wrong with the submit button. if i could just get that first field working. i will be able to code the rest without any trouble.

    ok...
    i know that the code is right. i have tried it out on another application. there is just something on how i set it up. everything is pretty hidden, could that be causing the problem? you would think as long as everything is named correctly and the right code is written, it would work fine. tell me what you think...

    I got it. For some reason the input/dynamic text fields, and the submit btn have to be on the main timeline. thanks for your help...

    do you know why i hadto move those to the main timeline to work?

    Not really, well only thing could be that you didn't work with _root paths, so that you didn't say to flash on what level the buttons and fields where, so if they where inside a movie clip on the main timeline, then the code would be:
    Code:
    _root.moviclipinstance.textfield.text
    Instead of:
    Code:
    textfield.text
    Becuase flash always looks at the main timeline, you would have to direct it into looking at another level by setting the MC instance name and all that in "dot" notation.
