Thread: cant edit my .swf file

    Can someone please tell me what I need to do to edit my .swf file, I had created this a while back and deleted my .fla file, and when i try to go import or open i get "this file has been protected by its author and cannot be imported"

    any ideas? im in desperate need for this

    It would make sense if there was a pinned topic in this forum explaining that you can decompile the swf, but you wil never get the exact .fla back. You can use software such as Actionscript viewer to get the actionscript back and buraks have some software for decompiling so you can get images and sounds back.

    Hi Brian,

    there is a thread by sxdesign (Sx if you find it on http://www.were-here.com) describing how to add and remove protection from a swf. However, importing it may give you an almost complete restoration on some movies and as little as 5 percent of your work on others.
    Actions are lost
    tweens are resolved into intermediate states at evry frame
    graphic layers are merged
