    Very sly.

What's really sad is the people signing the petition who believe that

    "u r soo ghey! LOlz!!11!!!1"

Is relevant political social commentary. they should ban these folks and leave games as they are.

The ancient Athenian forefathers, developers of democratic government, are not resting peacefully right now.

they're banning all games, they just say they won't enforce the law in people's homes, but anywhere people are found playign electronic games in public they will be prosecuted. One of the first cases based on this law is two people caught playing counter strike on pcs in an internet cafe, they face 12 months jail and/or a £90k fine!!

Craziness, this has to be the most ridiculous reason for a law I ever heard.

Didn't you read page one of this thread? It only looked like they were playing counter strike. They were actually betting on race horses.

I was reading the news over the BBC, they sound a little young to be betting on race horses... plus, why not just bet on counterstrike? It's far more exciting!

sorry if i am not supposed to post this on fk.

Why would they ban gameboy there is no real gambling with that?
Only way to talk to someone else on it is if you have a 1 foot cord attached to both gameboys.

But then why would they ban pacman or any other video game?
The problem they have is not with the games, it's with the gambling...the whole idea of removing an entire market because one section causes a problem is nuts.

It's like saying "people use knives for cooking, cutting and stabbing, because of the stabbing part, knives are banned all together..."
    God i hate stupid bureaucracy...

    That's right!

The government of Greece is making heroic efforts to humiliate the nation in front of the entire world, by banning all electronic games.
    Yeah, um very heroic.

I guess its something to take the focus of their building of Olympic venues which they're behind in.

Nope. It is true. It was in this morning's paper.

The Greek Government is also going to see if it would be possible to start legal action against Microsoft unless they remove the games from Windows.

Poor Greek friends.... I have a friend who we used to play FIFA back at uni and he beat me everytime. But venegeance is MINE now!

The whole windows is known as a big adventure game, so why not ban Windows completly? LOL

And whether or not the machine will crash when you boot it is a huge gamble. Even more justification.

As I said in the petition, video games are poised to become a larger industry than the movie industry, and for any nation to ban them outright is not just a bad PR move, but a stupid bit of politics which will hurt their economy as a whole. I mean, come on - do you think Windows or any other corporation will develop a special version of their software just to comply with an unpopular law?
