with the right browser you can do this in flash, we've all seen those horrible ads poping up on the page in layers... I wonder what the advantage of using QT is, apart from compatibility, I've never seen it as a development tool before, especially now flash handles video so well.

I've actually seen that first link before, quite some time ago actually. Probably at least 6 months or maybe a year ago. It has been posted here before.

First time I saw it it really wowed me, although as a site I didn't really like it, but the idea/technology impressed me.

I just got to look at this one, it took an age to load, and all it was was some simple mixing between 4 different tracks by moving your mouse around.

did I miss something, it took 15 minutes ot load!

Anything that can break down the need to have a rectangle browser window has great potential - especially in marketing and branding.

i saw this site a while ago...

i think it can be good or bad.

good, because well executed sites with this would be really cool.

but if you think popup adds are annoying now...

For some reason I cannot access the site I get a "11001 error".
I've installed quicktime 6.0 but still the same bug.
Any idea what I can do ?

I remember seeing some clown/jester (damn I cant remeber)..offering this as some add-on along with ith many other tools for FLASH

FStools..or something..it was so long ago...I cant even remeber..just reminiscences of it.

    -whispers-

    Maybe someone else remembers more.

There was something you could do with Flash, but it was only for executables.

Also, got some info from a colleague - apparantly that QuickTime "skins" has been out for a while but has never really caught on. One thing has to do with the rather large download for the QuickTime plugin. Sure many people can view QT, but many of them are also viewing with versions 3 and 4 - you need version 5 upwards to view the skins.

Oh well, wouldn't be the first "cool" idea not to take off.

Newest quicktime understands flash, so doing this is fairly easy, but i found it VERY annoying and chopping.

yeah it will only show the ++++ page if you dont have the latest quicktime PLayer, make sure you downloade that first then try again, it will load up.

I like it, It's the kind of approach that could work well
in some cases and look dreadfull in others.
They have gone straight for the jugular with this madass
    modern design style.

I think windowless movies are always going to look a bit odd so's long as images are confined within the environment of your monitor!

Hopefully ad companies won't employ it to death as it could become very annoying.
