Is this a scam?

I just got an email saying I`ve won a golden web award. ok I though, so I followed the link, and upon entering the site with its ghastly colours and poor layout, I relised that this wasnt something to be proud of. There are then many links to customised certificates etc. all of which cost in the region of 20 dollars. How many people here have had is this email?

The golden web award is worth very little. It's just a pointless banner that uglifies your site. For $10.00 I'll give you the drunken design award of the week

as a rule of thumb, if a celebrity gives you the awartd it's genuine, someone else.. pah! No way.

I don't understand why people aren't willing to pay me to have my site mentioned on their site...

most of these 'awards' are just banner ads that get more click throughs

I don't know that particular site, however, nobody should charge you for an award that you won. If they do charge you, then, it's pretty obvious, they're just after your money and couldn't care less for your site. Hope this helps!

Even I've won a golden web award, now that's saying something... Yes I consider this a scam cause a few days/weeks after you win they send you countless messages like:

-Get your award framed for $50
-Get a trophy for $100
-Get an edible copy of your award in case you and a team of brazilian rugby players survive a plane crash in the andes mountain and are forced to choose between eating each other or using the award for sustinance $500

so I may have made the last one up, maybe
