Any suggestions on getting a better effect for a light bulb. Kind of looks cheesy. Any way to do a "glow effect".

    Your bulb's not showing.

If it's on a dark background, draw an ellipse over the bulb (The size you want the glow to be) take away the line. Set the fill to 'radial gradient' in it change the middle colour to yellow with 50% transparency and the outer colour to yellow with 0% transparency.
You may need to fiddle with the transparencies but that's the general way I use.

    Hope it helps !

    ??????

I tried your suggestion to use a radial gradient. How do I make the light bulb flicker then glow? The scene should be -
    pull the light chain
bulb sort of flickers as it comes on
then the bulb goes to bright

    Thanks for the response
    arlie

The link to http://www.diademinc.com works when I test it here. What did you get when you accessed it?

    ahammons,

This is the lightbulb effect. I didn't have time to mess around with the chain but if you like this effect, send me the SWI and the images (images seperately)and I'll set it up for you.

Hey if you want to make the 'flicker' bit

You could try to use the 'place', 'remove', 'place', 'remove', and so on. Till you reached the desired length of time.

This gives the effect of flickering!

Hope you can understand what i just wrote and hope it helps.

    Thanks

    Lisa and others,

Thanks for all the help. I downloaded the light bulb and it looks great. Did you make the light bulb? With what tools? I never thought about using a gradient glow in the light bulb. What tools did you use for the gradient glow?

    Again thanks,
    arlie

    I love this board.

    ahammons,
Your welcome! Glad you like it.
I didn't know exactly how you planned on using it so all I did was take your original images:

    1) Seperated the lightbulb socket from the bulb (2 images)
    2) Cleaned up the pixels around the chain
    3) Created the gradient glow

    Everything done in PaintshopPro
