New York Lottery Pick 3 numbers yesterday was...

    9-1-1

We have to wait a little while before we know of any winners.

    Yeah - and ...

CHICAGO - In an ironic twist, the September Standard & Poor's 500 futures contract closed Tuesday at 911.00 — a day before the one-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

There was some buzz on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange stock index futures trading floor Wednesday about why that happened, but there were no reports of collusion or price-fixing.

how does the lottery over there work? Did you mean that the numbers 9 and 1 and 1 were picked? How does the same number get picked twice?

9 and 1 and 1 were picked. Each number slot has a chance of getting numbers 0-9. So you could have 0 0 0, or 9 9 9 or 568.

There is pick 3, pick 4, little lotto, megamillions, etc... Depends on what state you live in.

Not much. I think each pick 3 starts at $5,000 then grows based on how many people buy tickets. I could be completely wrong, and this is different from state.

Okay that makes sense now I thought your were talking like a million bucks, but there just aren't enough combinations of 3 numbers to supports that..

Anyway on a synical note I think the Canadian lottery where I live is rigged. This is because statisically it just doesn't add up.

Odds of winning 6/49 (name of lottery) 1 in 13 billion+
Number of people in Canada less than 40 million.
If everyone in Canada bought 10 tickets for each and every draw, there should only be (on average) 1 winner every 32.5 draws or 3 winners a year.

Now, first not everyone in Canada buys an average of 10 tickets a draw, I actually think the average is closer to 1 ticket (this brings into account that 1 person may buy 100 tickets and 100 other people buy 0 [such as children etc who count in population totals but don't buy tickets])

Second there averages over 25 winners/year which statistically shouldn't happen. And when there are no winners for a brief period it all happens at once so the jackpot is inflated and more people buy tickets..

Bored yet ok I'll stop.. In short what a scam!

Hhhhmmmmmm....which is easier to win the jackpot?

American lottery with 3 slots were numbers 0-9 can be picked in any or all slots. I take it all 3 matching win the jackpot

    Or

English 'Lotto' with 6 slots and a bonus ball. You pick 6 numbers from 1-49, only pick one once, and you have to get 5 of these numbers and the bonus ball matching your 6, but each number can't be picked more than once.

Sounds like the American so far....anyone know the exact probability?

olly we have that to in the states that don't have state-funded lotteries called powerball...it really does vary from state to state in the US..that pick 3 game in new york is much easier to win and a lot more people play it (it sucked when i worked in a liquor store cuz sooo many lowlifes would just play the pick-3), but obviously the reward is less...
