Thread: Video streaming using flash?

  1. #1
I'm curious about video streaming using flash. I seen this concept of video email. They use flash MX and they claim to stream video from their servers. Now, are they actually streaming this video into flash or are they just importing the video into flash?

On most of their demos the audio seems severly downgraded but the file does load pretty fast. If flash does support streaming what formats and how would I do this?

    Thanks

Yes you can stream in flash mx. You would have to have attach the movie straight to the main timeline (_root and not in a movie clip). This means you will not be able to have multiple instances etc(unless you want to eat up more bandwidth and CPU power) but it will stream.

You'll be using flash video so all the user will need is the flash 6 player. Quality will depend on what bandwidth you want to stream the content at and how much you want to buffer the movie.

    Later.
