All I need to be able to do is to display images in a dynamic text box, such that a seperate text file containing some basic HTML code can be updated seperately from the flash file. Using Flash 5, so far the <IMG> tag is being ignored which is causing some issues for me!

This is the final hurdle on a project I am working on, and if there is no workaround its going to mean some serious re-thinking

    Please help!

    Hi,

it IS impossible. F6 player can load jpeg images, but not within the html context - the images would not be associated with the html text and not scroll along with it.
One possible solution is a ming script that converts basic html (but including <img align=...> to static swf pages that can be loaded with loadmovie action. You may find some more info at http://www.mingworks.com

If interested in the Ming code Musicman mentioned, send me an email, it's not too complex, but a bit more than should be posted.

For those interested, this technique can be used as a basic HTML2SWF conversion process, but I haven't finished the complete HTML1.0 conversion yet, just links, images, and basic text formatting. I'm considering setting this up as an open project that would eventually include support for basic CSS and JavaScript2ActionScript conversion.

    Thanks guys, feared as much.

Sounds like you're onto something there, JerryJ can't get your e-mail address but I'd be interested in some code.

If this conversion works, would it still be scrollable like a text box?

    Thanks again!

Hmmm, thought my email was active here, sorry.

You can email me at jerry@mingworks.com

Here is a partially complete version I'm working on for Flash Magazine, it works off their templates, and returns the flash formatted as close to the HTML as possible. This example loads up one of the html articles at FlashMag and converts it to flash: Example
