Microsoft bought out by Chicago nobody.
Redmond, WA -- September 25th, 2002 -- Time to break out the party poppers, Microsoft rain of terror is over. Microsoft, maker of the popular Windows OS, will soon be turned upside down by the new owner, as they were recently bought out. The Windows OS is long known for the blue screen of death, large number of freezes, and forcing of users into software they do not want or need. Microsoft has been dealing with law suits and dirty business accusations for quiet a long time now. How could anyone of predicted a buy out?
At the press conference today, Justin B., known as NerdInside on Internet forums and message boards, was asked what kind of plans he had for Microsoft and the Windows OS. He was quick to respond. "Microsoft as a whole will be getting a complete make over. For starters, I am firing all employees to cut cost. Then, hiring open source programmers and college students. As for the Windows OS, it too will be getting a maker over. Linus Torvalds has come on as lead developer." said Justin. "We will be using his popular OS, Linux, as a back bone for Windows. This new version of Windows, called Windows NX, will be distribute under the GNU/GPL licensing. Source code along with a free version will be available for download from Microsoft.com, along with a paid version in stores that will be no different then the free version." he said.
It seems that Microsoft will now become an open source software company. Providing there OS free to the public under the GNU/GPL licensing. The GNU project (pronounced "guh-NEW"), for those who don't know, is a licensing that most free software is distributed under. It basically states that all code added to it, even if it is a separate file, has to be free also. If you buy or download the new version of Windows, you will no matter what get the source code. People will be able to make there own version of Windows, but it has to be free and has to have source code included. This does not mean that all programs made for Window will have to be free, but we will most likely see a rise in free software. Think of it as free speech instead of free beer.
Many software developers and hardware developers are fully supporting Windows NX. Drivers for all popular video, sound, and other hardware will be available upon alpha release. Major software developers and game developers will start developing software a few months before an alpha release. Ports of your favorite software and games should be out when the alpha version is release. No word from any software developers if they will make free or open source software. Time will only tell.
In edition to Windows NX, a version made for servers will be released also. Capable of handling high-bandwidth, high stress loads, and with a high security factor.. The server edition, just like the workstation edition, will be available for free download from Microsoft.com, with source code, and CD-ROM version that will have no changes between the free version.
