If I won Maya I would have to win Win 2000, or XP also.

i'de rather buy win xp...look at it this way, pay 100 for xp home edition, or pay 6000 or so for maya...hmm i choose to get maya for free and pay for xp

maya is less than 2000.00.
-
holographic god
i've seen it on their site for one of the special version that is 6000
-
supervillain
not a special version, but that's the unlimited version as opposed to the maya complete version.
for most - I'd say 90% of your needs, you will probably be ok with complete.

But what about Fluid Dynamics for Unlimited. **Begins to sweat**

eh i am just gonna buy 3ds max 5, complete with reactor and character studio, then purchase mental ray, along side with multiple art programs and 3ds max plugins
this of course is expected to be a couple $1000 (i am buying educational versions to save alot of money)
i'm willing to pay at least $10,000 for programs...i'm dead serious with 3d animation..so i would say its worth it..wow..all those people that download illegal copies would flip out thinking i am stupid

Multiple Graphics progs....Scratch that. Pretty much anything you can imagine you can get from Photoshop.
$295.00
It's nice to have plugs for Max, but with a few trick, most of the time the effect can be achieved without the plug, so shop carefully. For tons of cool plugs that help you even in Max 5 goto

and for every script imagianable

Cool great link my school does not currently offer discounts on 3d products. Wow 3d studio max, character studio, and reactor that sounds like everything I need! I think $500 is a little high priced just for learning and I don't get why some people think software companies owe them there software. If I learn 3d studio max and become good at it the payoff would be much greater than the $500 I paid to purchase the learning software. As a programmer and designer I don't think its right to steal other people's hard work no matter how evil the company may be. Especially for business purposes!
I'm not to happy though that NONE of my 3d studio max demos have arrived in the mail even after buying plasma. I called a few times and still I have no demo. The person there told me there were waiting to ship out 3ds max v.5 but I signed up in July, August, and September and now its October and still no demo to show my boss at work.

to make note about maya 4.5 unlimited, in case you didn't already know, i found the educational version for $700, which is a huge difference in the commercial version which is i believe to be around $6000.
puts on shopping list to purchase in the future while still a student
