Pixel font's don't do good on resizes.
Since you know about alignment in movie you may not know that if they are in a sprite (in Swish) or a mc (in Flash) try offsetting them by .5 this helps clean them up for me.
Also make sure that your using align left.
And that you set the quality output to low or auto low.
When the quality is low fonts' and vectors appear sharper. although bitmaps can suffer. Inversly when set to high font's and vectors can appear less sharp while bitmaps improve.

Thanks Frets!
Offsetting them by .5, will try that!

FFF, one other question.
I noticed when I preview my .swf (in flash) some of the fonts are washed out, but when I preview in my browser, they come out fine.
Why is that?

It seems to happen in MACs and also if you have Flash 5. In Flash 5, right click and choose 100%. This will ensure that you're seeing the text at the right size and not distorted at a larger size.
The ultimate proof: if you're not sure whether the font is as crisp as it should be, right click and choose low quality. If nothing changes, then it's all good. However, if you do see a change (text is crisper), that means that there is something wrong with the placement of the font in the stage.
As I said before, feel free to email your problematic FLAs for review.
