as gerbick said in the other thread, or this is a far fetched stretch of what he said, its good to know all programs, by doing so you can get the true effect your going for (this is what i am gonna do, just buy all the programs and be well rounded)
by the way i never said how much i was surprised at what swift could do...nice image!
time, experience, and exposure to the programs will be enough, vatcher. no need to buy all of the programs... schools and jobs will have them, and hopefully training, to make available to you.
unfortunatly i will not be at school or work all day, so i need to come home with all the "fun" right there on my computer, i go to college next year for 3d animation, but before i go i want to become very familiar with each program where it makes it easier on myself to understand what the teachers are saying.
all day when i am not at school i am on the computer doing something related to graphics, just think, going to college just for graphics..life will be grand

It is a surprise.
By the way. Today I received an e-mail from the people of
electric rain (the swift 3d people) and they asked me if they
could use my lightsabre as an example for there site.
Maaaaaaaannn now i am feeling happy. I buy a huge pie to
celibrate.Who's coming??
that has to make you feel good... did you give them your answer... it's some awesome work man... i look forward to learning more about swift
Hay ,
My answer to them was yes but they need some time to put the saber on their page.
I am making a robot and it is almost finish.I will do a tutorial on that too. I have only made the legs but i will finish the body part this week. It took me 2 days to make these legs in Swift 3d v3.The rendering time was 2 minutes per frame.
Hi. Your lightsaber is truely great. I looked through your tutorial to find how to make such a reflective chrome surface and I did it the same to that of yours... you can watch the result: my surface is rather white. I need a help. Thanks.
Hey you did a nice job with the power.jpg
If you want a cool reflection on your white surface, just click in the left menu "environment". Now you will see that you can choose (browser button) an image also. That image will reflect on you robject. If you look very closely at my lightsaber, you will see a reflection of the same saber i've made. Don't use an image with to many colors init.
Also play a littlebit more with the light. Be sure that you doný put to many lights on your object, because that will make the object a white surface.
I made a sample for you.
Go to this link: http://www.daviesinteractive.com/images/example.jpg
I tried this method with also using 2 reflective planes around and a bitmap for the environment... Does it look more natural or there is still too much light?
