    somebody call a plumber!

a combination of raster (scene) and vector (ripple) render, worked out ok and pretty light on the bandwidth i think. *** Thanks to rads ***

    Nice Work!

Any chance of posting the t3d file?

I think I know what is causing that specular shadow - Swift3D has issues with both shadows in reflections and shadows generated when using an environment. Are you using something with a yellow hue or a yellow color as an environment?

Thanks for posting the project file BlinkOK!

It turns out that Swift3D also has an issue with casting shadows through tranparent materials as well.

I changed the tumbler to a metal / chrome material and that corrected the yellow specular shadow you were getting.

BlinkOK - kudos for this modeling!

If I ever get the time I'll finish an ocean scene I am doing with a ship. The new morph paths in the lathe tool rock.

Nice job Blink!! Looks like we have another t3d file to share with the community at PdF if you dont mind well make it a featured file!! Regards, Bill

..and we have a glass again - with no yuckie yellow shadow!

    Nice work Nitro!!!

I love your idea of completing the scene by placing the person taking a shower in the reflection! Is that a Planar Solid bitmap?

You going to reveal the secret of the vanishing yellow?

last time i tried to add some clear transparent blobs (extrusions with rounded bevels) on the counter top like splashes of water. it didn't work because of the specular thing. Mabey try that. I have a toothpaste tube as well if you want but i had to hide the skinny end behind the cup because i couldn't get that bit to work. (Might be a problem with your clear glass, although it just might distort enough so you don't notice.

    yup.
The solid planar bmp material was from a shower image and was placed on a square extrusion in the spot where that large plane was sitting.
I replaced the torchlight with a directional sunlight and raised it quite a bit to reduce glare. This got rid of the yellow shadow. The glass material I created as well as the mirror material and basin water material ( see the wave noise in the water? )
I got a great swf result from the fla Blink has kindly supplied too

I am now trying to achieve a really effective water material for the 'droplets on the basin look'. Getting close but still need to tweak it ( the waterdrop material ) a little more. Let me know how you all are going too

    Keep swifting!

    Nitro,
I was just muckin around and i dropped a texture on an extrusion and it ended up lookin like folds of material. I can't seem to recreate it. You got any ideas? That sunlight thingy works great!
    toothpaste tube worked out ok (bad bits nicely distorted);

although the glass is spot on. I'm still getting the specular on the extrusions for the water drops. I think i'll try it with just spheres and scale them till i get what i want. (texture from corel) not as good as yours.

Is this what you mean? --> file image

It's from the 'texture group' - third from the left called 'er - raster lumps' - Just use the same settings and apply a colour or bmp to it for that loose material look and turn down the reflection settings. ( I've been trying to get that one right to apply to a hand towel. tee! hee! )
Nice start to the toothpaste tube too! - You could have gone the easy way and made one of those toothpaste dispensers that stand upright.. but this should be another good challenge

The specular thing with the water - on mine, it was putting a bright spot on the surface of the basin where the objects (waterdrops) cut into it. That's what I have been trying to get rid of.
I am close on this - just need to play with the reflection setting a little more. Here's an oversized example of the waterdrop:

    ... I'll keep ya posted

Thanks for the folds info, as soon as i saw it i thought of a towel too. You know one day when we have time we should do a swift3D arena challenge. Start with an object and build on it, see what we come up with.
The water look absolutly perfect! great work
