    creating a glass block

    hi,

im new to swift (i have swift 3) as in i just started using it yesterday - as i have a deadline, i cant really afford to learn all of the tutorials...I have done the basics...

what i need is a really pretty shiny glass block, slightly rounded at the corners and rectangular in shape - i have drawn the shape in freehand and imported it, added a transparent texture, and fiddled around with the lighting, but it just looks plain strange (ie: no real depth or shinyness). What is the best way of going about doing this? I can never seem to be able to apply the tranparency texture to the sides of the block either....

    thanks for any help!

Mostly to do with the lighting....

Ok in the extrusion editor i just took the square with no corners and made the corners a little less rounded, i then stretched it to make it more of a rectangular shape..

I then added a transparent red colour and went to Materials on the menu to the left..

I double clicked on the red ball to bring up the material properties menu..

in there i find it better to change the transparency to less and the brightness to less so that the block is more visible and realistic..

i then added a target light under the block and four more standard lights to add a sense of refraction..

    Here are the results:
