Hacker attacked the 13 Internet root servers!
I just read it in a German article. Some hackers have tryd Monday to "kill" the 13 root servers of the internet with a Distributed-Denial-of-Service attack.
Oh, here's a English article: Washington Post Article
Around 5:00 p.m. EDT on Monday, a "distributed denial of service" (DDOS) attack struck the 13 "root servers" that provide the primary roadmap for almost all Internet communications. Despite the scale of the attack, which lasted about an hour, Internet users worldwide were largely unaffected, experts said.
Great, the internet was not down!

I saw that on the news yesterday... they made it seem like no one cared and that it wasn't a big deal.

I thought that was the whole point of the net... one gets attacked, it finds another way...

Here are the internet stats from the last seven days: http://www.internettrafficreport.com/7day.htm
You see, at the 21th it's not a big peak. There where bigger ones at other days. (Olympic Games ..., 911)
So I think it's really hard to bring the net down.
