yeah, what nat said is what my teacher thaught me. And something else:
After you decide what and where you are going to draw, put a layer of paint just to be the base of your painting. You don't have to worry about painting inside the edges or having the colors that you want. That layer of paint removes the white spots and helps you have a better idea of how your painting is going to look like.
Then just go on as normal but from back to front, like nat said.
ahhh okay, thanks for all the little tips! yeah I knew about the soap thing, always wash your brushes with soap and it definitely conforms to whatever shape you want it to be when you do clean it with soap, as well.
arikb, as far as the "underpainting" goes-- well I never quite considered that to be a way to fill in the blank spots, but it sure would work! I'll keep that in mind for my future works. I just tend to make specific boundaries and then paint within them.
As for painting, here's my latest: a gremlin, he stole your sock!... but he's too cute to be mad at, so... you'll let him keep the sock just this one time.

Is anybody having the problems I do, getting Alias SketchBook Pro 2 to work on my new Mac Mini Intel?
Haven't installed Photoshop yet, but I already know it's a bugger with mac intels.
But I heard people using SketchBook with no problem.
I am using a Wacom Cintiq 21UX, with latest mac drivers. Obviously Mac OS 10.4.6 with all downloadable updates.
It appears to me that SketchBook just doesn't work with the video feature.
a stroke takes approx 10 seconds to appear and when I hover it, it disappears!
ummmmm.....
p.s. I'm still with the standard 512MB, as I opted to bare it for a few weeks while I find the money and a bargain to get 2GB for a little more than having the unit sent with 1GB from Apple. I was also told that Apple's warranty isn't void by replacing dimms at home (which is weird...but it's better this way).
Altruism does not exist. Sustainability must be made profitable.

This kind of question is better placed in it's own thread. Let's try to keep this one reserved just for artwork and discussion of said. Thanks.

Thanks, guys!
GAH!!! I'm sorry, arikb!!! *bangs head on keyboard* yes, thanks to yoooooooou!!!!!! and I'm glad you like the gremlin
as for mag-- glad the gremlins can make your day
Most of my image work I got to keep secret for a while, but I can show you this print I did in flash! Hooray my first print!
Digital image:
wow, very nice!
I always work with vector cartoon style. but last week I decide to do a digital painting, click the below link if you want to see it (my 2nd digital painting)
Krow, hey I like your style-- it reminds me of the Fairly Oddparents
The only thing that irks me is on the colored version-- I'd reccomend using a gradient in the backgrounds (instead of flat colors), might give it more depth. You did really nicely on the fish and the fishbowl!! great work there-- but it looks like the water has a sort of texture to it, I'm going to guess that's from the saving/file compression, so if it were a higher-quality (as in the way it was saved) you probably wouldn't have that texture. You also might want the text a bit bigger. Otherwise... sweet!
Well I've been doing about 2 paintings a week, here's something I finished off last night:
The Long-Legged Suction-Footed Tweep!
Can I ask you to trim down your footer so it complies with the following guidelines? Thanks.
Footer Specs
JPG, GIF or PNG only.
One image is prefered, but if you must have multiple images they must all total less than 300 pixels wide by 40 pixels high with a 15kb filesize maximum.
NOTE: 3 lines of text with image, 5 lines of text without image. No large fonts.

Cool work guys
Krow your style is nice, reminds me of Fairy Odd Parents aswell, I think you need to work on the surroundings though, the characters are perfect the rest needs a little work.
