is there any good tutorials out there for com server, specifically regarding web cam device.

And, is it possible to establish a direct connection between two users using the webcam file, instead of having a com server?

There are a few examples that come with the server software. There's also a simple playlist example on my site. Look for "tutorials" in my footer.

As far as a p2p setup goes, connecting clients directly, I wondered the same thing. The problem is that flash player can't listen for a socket connection. You'd also need a way for each client to know the ip address of the other clients. I know there are a few products that will allow a standalone flash movie to listen for socket connections. This may be the place to look. Check out the "standalone" forum here on flashkit.
