how to do a water drop??

hi guys how can i do the animation of a water drop like the dots that come out in the "loading" part of http://www.swift3d.com . i want to know how to go from the shape of the water drop to when it hits the ground sort of like a shape tween.

Thanks in advance for your help

V3 now contains an 'Animated Lathe' whereby you can create Lathe morphs with the animation timeline, similar to Flash. I believe the process is the same too, create you first frame with lathe image in, then add a keyframe and change your lathe image to show what you want to morph to. But this sequence of morphing events would be for while the droplet is touching the ground, not whilst in mid-air otherwise it will morph while its falling, which isn't what you are after, I think. The trick to this whole animation would be making 2 scenes in Swift then putting them altogether in Flash. I've not used the Animated Lathe yet, so you may be able to do the entire sequence in 1 scene within Swift

This is how I think eRain made the water droplet that you are after.
Give it a try and play about with it a bit.Don't forget to post your effort on this board so we can all see

Good luck and happy rendering !

    http://www.swift3d.com/v3/tutorials/index.html

select the animation > path morphing tutorial from the menu

towards the end of that tutorial, this type of animation is covered

ok. what programs do you have access too? if you have anything that will open a *.max or *.3ds file, I have an animation that does the water drop like animation like in swift3D 3.0 in 3ds max.

it's easily reproduced in other programs as well...

for plasma do a lathe for the water drop, then apply a spherify modifier on it, on the last frame make the spherify modifier at 100% and on frame one have it at 0%...then mess around with the possitions to make it look like its hitting something

You know i think you could get away with creating a water drop in v2 by creating a tear drop and setting the pivot point to the bottom of the drop and then animate the y-scale (reduce the y-scale) of the drop so it squishes. Then do the same thing to a sphere only in reverse. Then tack one animation on the end of the other.

    impressive

I like that, is it simple to make stuff like that?

I was going to buy Swift 3D V3, but need a trial 1st to see if I would be good at it, any ideas where I can get one from (erain haven't got one yet)

no demos for Swift3D 3.0 yet available. However... I think if you look at this forum, you'll see how the people are stating it's worth their $169.00 US Dollars.

other options exists, of course - namely Plasma which is $650.00 and Strata's 3D Pro which is $695.00.

eRain does have a 30 day money back guarantee for Swift3D.

actually it was pretty simple to make..it took me a couple of days to finish it bc i worked on it for a while then left it for a few hours and came back to it... it also took me that long bc i kept trying to get the timing in right, i still didnt like it but it was as good as it was going to get for now. also the materials i put on it suck. i made a sky (clouds) texture to put on the background but u cant see the clouds in the final thing so that sucked.
