    Simple question: change text

I have text in a textbox that simply fades in from lower left...

But at about the 20th..40th...60th..80th.. frame, I want the text to say something else..(same effect, fade in from the left,)

I put the text in its own layer, added keyframes at 20,40,60,80... but when I change the text in the 20th frame, it changes it for the 1st frame and all the frames...

Any direction would be much appreciated...

do not try to alter the original text, simply create a new layer and put your new text there. At the 20th frame or wherever fade out text 1 and fade in text 2.....

when you change text you are altering the original library element which is why is changes for all frames.....

    keep text areas seperate.....

    hope this helps...

So that can't be done with the original text..? Because I have done it on the same layer... its just a little tricky because of the increasing alpha setting..

I appreciate your answer, I just want to make sure before I go ahead... because I don't want to unnecessarily increase the file size (if layers add alot to the file size, I don't know)

Also, should I be converting the text to symbols? Or is that even possible?

yes you can convert the flash to symbols...
f+8 .... then you can tween "effect"

yes tons of text increases file size....
    check this out:

this is a research paper i turnned in as a flash project...
its heavy but can be done...
First frames load up with no delay... but if you click options out of order before finished loading you will get some problems...

add all the text you need then add a preloader...
    aloha!
