I want to make a particular frame only viewable to those who have first submitted a password. I thought I had done that very simply using actionscript... but then I realised that the helpful standalone player allows you to 'step forward', ignoring my password protection.
Is there anyway of specifing that the standalone player should not allow 'step-forward' in a movie?

I know about that but...
Deselecting 'display menus' in publish settings doesn't seem to take away the main menu option of the stand alone player: control>step forward
Or have I missed your point?

If you want to have a projector without the menu bar at the top and you dont make the movie full screen then your going to need a program called jugglar by ***********.com It will allow you to change the display so you no longer have borders. It will also do a host of other things like disable the screensaver, change the icon, no right click menu, add a exit button on right click and a whole lot more. the cost is only 99 USD.
