Growing lines with motion guides ?

I' m new to flash. Is it possible to make an object grow only along a motion guide path ? I' m trying to make a rounded square grow length wise along a motion guide path around a sphere sort of like a ribbon growing in length around a globe. I read around the forum and thought it might have something to do with masks but don' t have any clue as to what to do.

To be more clear, I want to give an effect that sort of seems like something is tracing a motion guide path. Please help !

I don't understand completely what you want, but this might be a solution:
create a movie clip, with the grow/shrink effects you want. Place this movie clip on the timeline, give it a guide layer, draw your motion path, create the necessary keyframes and tweens, and there you are

Sorry I wasn't clear. I guess a better way to explain it would be like if you took a ball and drew a line across it from one side to the other. That' s the effect I' m looking to do where the line grows from one end of the ball to the other.

I' ll try out your suggestion, though. Thanks for the reply !

    Hi there,

No, it's not possible to let an object grow along a rounded motion path.

I know what you want, and it's possible, but not as easy as you think.
You really need to make a mask to mask the box or whatever going around the globe. Then if the box has rounded edges or something, you'll have to do some more animation for those rounded edges too.

Hope this helps you a littlebit.
