I think its looking good, very retro (which I like)

I'm being lazy here, where did you get the background on the 'upcoming events'? or did you do it yourself?

Looking for something like that for a project i'm working on.

    Cheers

    Cool

Is there anything I can do to maybe pinch one or get an idea? I've so many retro bkgs but none of them jump out at me for the project i'm working on.

    Let me know

    Cheers

    Thanks sense,

I prefer design #2 but I prefer the background on the upcoming events on #1.

I'd have to say Toony's on the right track here.

The brown is easier on my eyes. The brown textured background really gives it character. The brown also set a nice mood for me.

The gray site never grabbed my attention, besides the car with the trails. The browns in "upcoming events" seemed to rich in color for the rest of the site.

Both look great but I enjoyed the brown, or #1.

    hi.
    .
    like your work.
    .
first 1 has the best vibe.
    .
the use of abstract imagery, silhouettes and wall paper texture gives emotive values to the design, however the placement of elements tends to cut this up and makes it "bitsy". meaning, the elements compete against each other when it would be ideal to create a smooth hierarchy.

i recommend simplifying unnecessary information and emphasising what's working for you

» replace the background texture with a flat colour (pick it from the image)
» do something with the scroll bar. possible move it to the rhs so it is against the boarder and not in the middle of your design
» i feel the boarder is too full-on. make the stroke thinner or change the colour.
» logo seems to float away. actually it doesn't even look like a logo at present. try placing it above the nav bar. it should help to anchor it and pull the eye towards it.
» maybe this is the order??? : NAV BAR > LOGO > ABSTRACT > SILHOUETTE > TITLE > TEXT > SCROLL BAR > BOARDER > BACKGROUND
    .
anyway... hope this all helps. its almost there

    Nice first impression

straight up you wanna stay and have a look around, but when you look at it for a while they both have flaws that could be improved

No. 1 = the earthy tones can be nice when used in the right way like
in your site but the background looks like a tacky persian rug but apart from that it is cool

No. 2 = near perfect for the layout u are goin for. i love the colours and the overall theme but the car shouldnt have its left side blured, just leave it as the bonet veiw, and i dont like the font for meridiaan diest

Both = i canot give you my full opinion as i do not know how the links are gonna function but i great layout

    WINNER IS NUMBER 2

Care to rate a pick of mine?

okay, my client went for design number one.
he liked the warm feel and thought it sets a better mood then the second. nice, can agree with that.

-the colorscheme will be adjusted (made it with midwintersun straight in the face)

-will choose for a plain background.

-the logo is theirs cannot change it..

I'll keep you posted on how things evolves.
And thanks for the great criticism given here !

    re, Tim
